Shining Armor: You’ve gotta be kidding…

Cadence: Crafty little colt. I see what he did there.

Twilight: You do?

Shining Armor: He used one of his opponents’ strengths by turning it into a weakness for them both.

Cadence: There’s no way an overhead strike like that could just bounce off of wings like that. Those wings are made of metal, aren’t they?

Shining Armor: You can tell? Yes they are. Mithril wings, to be exact.

Cadence: I knew it. That kind of metal is good at deflecting incoming attacks like that rather nicely. Perhaps a little too nicely!

Twilight: Has he always been an opportunist like that?

Shining Armor: Actually, now that I think about it, yeah. He is! But finding the right opening in Ensigns Heavyweight and Thunderclap’s near unstoppable double team style?!

Cadence: Well, you DID train him yourself, didn’t you Shining?

Shining Armor: I did? Oh yeah! I… Of course I did! Maybe a bit too well, though…

Flash: *Panting* How was… that?!

Thunderclap: Urgh… What hit us? What was that?!

Heavyweight: So you figured it out, huh?

Flash: Well, it wasn’t easy! I honestly hope I never have to fight you two again! And you really did a number on my wings… Ngh… I don’t even think I can fly now.

Heavyweight: Huurgh… I ain’t apologizing for that, kid. You got what you signed up for! But still, you got us fair and square. You’re pretty good!

Thunderclap: Yeah… pretty good…

Flash: *Scratches mane* Pretty good…! Heheheh!

Thunderclap: Now you can keep going… It’s only another match away from the end. We’ll be watching, so you better not lose!

Heavyweight: Yeah! Nopony that beats us is allowed to lose, ya got it?!

Flash: No, sir! YOU got it! *Salutes them as they get up and leave* You guys need help?

Thunderclap: We got it ourselves, thanks! Good luck!

Announcer: THE WINNER IS CADET FLASH SENTRY!!! *The crowd goes wild, especially Flash’s group* WE WILL BE TAKING A BRIEF 10 MINUTE INTERMISSION BEFORE THE FINALS! DISMISSED!

Milky Way: Oh dear… Flash really looks badly hurt there…

Drum Role: Yeah, he does. Makes sense, though. He did ask for this after all!

Bass Keys: Yo, dawg! Dat ain’ helpin’ man!

Drum Role: I’m just sayin’ it like it is!

Amp Atom: I better go see him! *Hurries off*

Advent: Hmm… *Looks to Flash and still sees a fire coming from within him* His body may be weak, but his soul is strong enough to move whole mountain ranges. If he can just hold out, there’s little chance of him failing…

Drum Role: You really sound sure of that, don’tcha?

Advent: Why not? Don’t you see it?

Drum Role:….Well…

Bass Keys: Gotta t’ink realistic, man!

Milky Way:….To Tartarus with realism! *Stands up* What has thinking realistic ever gotten us, huh?! If Flash is still willing to go through with this, then we’re going to give him no less than our fullest collective confidence and support! *Yelling like crazy* DO YOU HEAR ME?!?!

Drum Role & Bass Keys: EEP! YES, MA’AM!

Advent: *Laughing* HAHAHAHAHA!!! Amen! There’s not the smallest iota of doubt in me!

Flash: *Whew!* I want to fall over right now… *Looks over to see his group up in the bleachers* Eheheh… *Waves to them and walks over to the tunnel* Ngh… *Breathing heavily* I just narrowly handled that… I can’t imagine how tough the last one’s gonna be… especially since I can’t even use my wings now…  

Amp Atom: And that’s why you’re gonna need some additional support!

Flash: Amp? What, were you listening?

Amp Atom: You let your monologue out loud, Flash. Hard to miss it.

Flash: Heheh… Sorry, my head’s kind of killing me.

Amp Atom: No surprise. You’ve been dealt with one painful ordeal after another. I’d imagine that it would take a lot out of anypony. And it’s only getting tougher, isn’t it?

Flash: Don’t even need to ask.

Amp Atom: Just as I suspected. That is why you’ll be happy to know that your weapon is ready! I was hoping to show you this earlier, but it needed some last second touch-ups. So I thank you for your patience. BEHOLD! *Pulls out a large case and opens it, showing the Lightning Spear’s head in it next to a large metallic staff with set air holes in it*

Flash: *Sees it glowing and his eyes grow in size with a quiet gasp* Nice! What did you do?!

Amp Atom: That, my friend is the Lightning Spear Mk. II! Codenamed: MANA-PHOSPHORA! By combining the brilliant designs and ancient magic of Star Swirl the Bearded with my own stable upgrades of modern Equestria technology and magic, I was able to create the perfected version of the original Lightning Spear of Phosphorus! Where Phosphorus was powerful, it was also rather unstable. *Flash attaches the head to the staff* It broke the staff every time it was done being used and needed to let out the excess electrons flowing through it, much like a steam engine lets out its steam when it needs to cool down. Mana-Phosphora however is much more durable! It not only absorbs the electricity flowing through it, but can also release it in concentrated forms! It can even release it through the air or ground. It’s up to you to be able to control it, so I’d recommend training with it a little first.

Flash: Hmm… You’re sure the staff can hold out?

Amp Atom: I got assistants to attest for it. It is much more durable than any staff you’ve worked with so far, being made of a combination of osmium, stainless steel, and a touch of mithril, it can take anything that an enemy can throw at you! And that’s just the body! The head has also been AMP-lified! *Rimshot* Eheheh… get it?

Flash:……..*Blank stare*

Amp Atom: Eheheheh… Anyways, the head of the spear has been given a special treatment of donated magic that was compatible with the magic of Star Swirl already flowing through it. This not only balances out the instability of the original’s magic levels, but also increases the potency! So your performance in battle will multiply 3-fold! It will be like you’re fighting alongside three other ponies! One of them is yours truly! I’ve never been a fighter myself, but I do know how to provide all the necessary support! That’s probably why Princess Celestia picked me for this job!

Flash: Nice! But who would the other two ponies be?

Amp Atom: Well one of them is the original creator himself, Star Swirl the Bearded! After all, it IS his weapon! As for the third donor, well… I don’t know if I should give the name. If you win this next round, I’ll tell you!

Flash: Okay then! I’ll be sure to win! I’d love to know who I’m working with! But I don’t know if I can rely on this for help in the next match. Chief said that I can’t use-

Amp Atom: I’m aware of that, but I’m also aware of his update!

Flash: Update? What do you mean?

Amp Atom: He sent me to tell you this: He wants you to use it in this next match! He simply stated “You’re going to need it!” when he told me to tell you.

Flash: Huh… Well I don’t want to REALLY hurt somepony! I mean this is a powerful weapon, I can tell! It’s no toy… but if Chief made the order… I guess sparks are gonna fly next round!

Amp Atom: That reminds me! There are a couple other things about the spear to go over real quick! You remember how you were able to use the weapon in a secondary style?

Flash: Yeah, when I lost the staff early, the spearhead had an electric tether coming from it and it acted like a harpoon or whip.

Amp Atom: Well guess what! That function has been retained! Now you can use both styles and switch them on the fly! You can actually toggle between Spear-Mode and Harpoon-Mode depending on your choice! The staff itself can actually magnetically separate, bend, coil, retract, extend, and reconnect at any time following your own will and motion depending on how you wish to use it! Get creative with it! The flowing electrons within the spear as a whole will respond to your will and do what you tell them to! Stronger, faster, more durable, more flexible, and gives the user the freedom to use it in many different ways! That’s the Mana-Phosphora!

Flash: *Has a big grin while jabbing, swinging, and surging its electricity at a safe distance* Heheheheh… Amp… Has anypony told you “You’re a genius!”?!

Amp Atom: Well… *Blushes and scratches head* I suppose I’ve been told…

Flash: Seriously! This is perfect! If the Chief wants me to use it next, then I can’t wait to test it out! I just wish my wings weren’t bent out of shape…

Amp Atom: You’ve suffered worse, haven’t you?

Flash: Heh, yeah. I’ll be fine! So long as my next opponent isn’t a Pegasus… Or much worse, an Alicorn!

Amp Atom: Uh… I could be wrong, but I don’t think there are any Alicorns in the Royal Guards… But anyways, do you wish to continue practicing or do you wish to get over to the next match?

Flash: I think I’m ready!

Amp Atom: Very well! OH! Before you go, I have one last thing to give you! *Presents rubber horseshoe covers* Here! Wear these while you use the spear. You never know when your standard-issue guard horseshoes may either give out or let a stray spark slip into it. You do NOT want to let either happen when using that spear, otherwise you may still accidentally electrocute yourself! It’s just a safety precaution.

Flash: Thanks! *Puts them on underneath his horseshoes* I don’t know what I’d do without you guys!

Amp Atom: Like I said before! It’s the least that I can do after all you’ve done for me! Now GET OUT THERE, SOLDIER! *Salutes*

Flash: Heh! *Salutes back* ROGER! IT’S GO TIME! *Heads back out and sees that everypony has returned and Amp teleports himself up to the bleachers with the rest of the group* (This is it, Flash… One more win and then… *Looks up to Blueblood* I’m gonna get some answers…)
