Verse 14

The next thing I knew, I was unconscious and in, what I guess could be called a dream. I find myself in the middle of a 4-way crosswalk in a suburban area with a dark city in the background and a single street light shining down the middle of it. I seem to show up there whenever something really weird is going on with my head. I look around wondering where I am until a single figure walks up to me from out of the shadows.

????: Ah, so the spear has finally been awakened.

Flash: Huh?! What the?! Who's there?!

????: Do not be alarmed, my friend. I mean you no harm. Look behind you.

Flash: *Turns around and sees a unicorn with a cape, pointy hat, and a long beard walk up to him* Who... are you?

????: Greetings, young colt. I am pleased that my spear has proven itself useful to you.

Flash: Your spear?!

[STAR-SWIRL THE BEARDED- Kevin Michael Richardson]

Star-Swirl: Yes. The Lightning Spear that you wield. That is my invention. I am its creator, Star-Swirl The Bearded. It is a pleasure to meet you.

Flash: Star-Swirl... Where have I heard that name before?

Star-Swirl: It matters not of where right now. My time is limited. I need to talk to you here and now. I implanted a part of my essence into all of my creations before I passed away. But only for a short time. Once it fades, it is gone forever. The magic, however stays within it to benefit the user that it deems worthy.

Flash: Magic? Wait, you mean there's magic in the spear?!

Star-Swirl: Exactly. I created the spear to be useful to a worthy hero. One that moves at the speed of light and has a heart as bright as a massive bolt! A hero that will use it to protect the innocent and righteous.

Flash:.....One that moves in a flash... and protects... You mean like...

Star-Swirl: A sentry? Yes. You, Flash Sentry.

Flash: Wait, you know me?!

Star-Swirl: I have known many things both of the past, present, and future. I saw that our world would be thrown into darkness one day. There would be a team of heroes to stand up and face the darkness, but they would need all the help they could get. That is why I forged that weapon and empowered it with my friend's spiritual lightning. When I put away that spear, I already knew it would fall into the hooves of the right pony one day. I designed it so that somepony like you would be able to use it to its fullest potential for the right reasons.

Flash: Your friend's lightning? Who's that?

Star-Swirl: That is a valid question, unfortunately, answering it right now will only yield more questions and time is short.

Flash: Oh. Okay, but...why me? What's so special about me?

Star-Swirl: Why do you ask? You already know the answer yourself. You have fought with it before, correct? What purpose did you use it to fight for?

Flash: I remember now. The first time was with this spear. It was to save my mom when she was hurt. And just recently, I used it against a giant snake to protect my friends.

Star-Swirl: And just now. You used it to stop a lightning bolt from striking your comrades.

Flash: Wait, I did?! Oh man! Does that mean I almost died?!

Star-Swirl: Had it been any other tool, you would most certainly have died.

Flash: Sheesh! Talk about lucky!

Star-Swirl: Make no mistake, boy. That was not luck. It was fate. You were destined to find that spear and use it as you did. Did you notice the sparks in your mind when you used it? Did your body just simply move and know what to do when you did it?

Flash: Y-Yeah... I did!

Star-Swirl: Excellent. Then you already know what it is for and why it is you who is the rightful user of the Lightning Spear. It recognizes you as the pony with a sense of justice worthy of utilizing it. And one day, when the time is right, you will become strong enough to use the spear's true power and transcend your form into something as great as the blessed angelic soldiers themselves... *Coughing*

Star-Swirl:.... Urgh.... It... It would appear that my time has almost come.

Flash: Huh? You okay?!

Star-Swirl: Worry not of me. I told you... I passed away already. I have been long dead for over a thousand years... But... you have finally freed this part of me... Now, I can finally lay down and rest. Thank you, young colt.

Flash: Whoa! Hold on! Do you have a manual for me or something?! I don't know how to use the Lightning Spear's magic! Who's gonna teach me?!

Star-Swirl: Huh.... Huhuhuhuh... I don't like repeating myself. You already know the answer. If it still confuses you, then experiment. Use it when it is necessary, but practice with it. Figure out how it works yourself gradually if you must. But you will master it. I'm sure of that. After all... it was made especially for you, my boy.
